So I had the pleasure of attending the hackathon at VMworld and meeting @kmruddy and the mighty beard! So I was asked to join up with Graham Barker @VirtualG_UK and David Taylor (WHO DOES NOT HAVE A TWITTER ACCOUNT) David how can you be a guy that travels around the world for Dell EMC on projects and not even have a Twitter account, you should be ashamed of yourself! They had an idea, that to me was super interesting. They were using VMware Workstation 15 with the new REST API bits, along with PowerCLI to create a quiz. After discussing the idea with them, I came up with the idea of it being called Russian Roulette. In VMware Workstation there was a […]

It’s a wrap – VMworld 2018

November 9, 2018 Stijn Depril 0

The last 4 days were crazy. We had our yearly VMworld in Barcelona! I had a jam packed agenda starting monday morning at 10 am till today. We could summarize it to long days and short nights! This was my second VMworld since I started working at VMware and it was great! I would even say “the best VMworld I ever attended”. On Monday I got to Barcelona around 9am in the morning. Leaving Brussels Airport early for my first meeting at 10 am in beautiful Barcelona. I planned around 15 meetings in these 4 days and we talked about divers subjects. In my current role it was most of the time storage centric. However a lot of our conversations […]

November 6, 2018 Kim Bottu 0

Finally, VMworld we meet once more! The sixth or seventh time already and still I am enjoying it as much as the first time, if not more! VMworld is a special event, not just for the technical content which is being gospelled in all sessions but also because it is wonderful to meet and greet my distant friends from around the globe in person, some of whom I have never met outside of the virtual world until today –> Hello Valdecir and Bilal, really nice to finally meetup in person! Something else what really makes VMworld special this year, is that there are four vMusketeers attending VMworld: Frederiek, Bilal, Stijn and myself! That means that almost half of our little […]

Only a couple of days before the doors at Gran Fira open for a new edition of VMworld in Barcelona! I would like to make a suggestion to fill these tiny free spaces in your diary. As you know, I’m working on building the VSAN business in the Benelux region. So it probably won’t surprise you that my suggestion is fully packed with storage sessions! Oh and by the way while you are at it. Come and have a talk with my fellow vMusketeers during VMworld! I might have some cool swag for […]

VSAN 6.7 U1 – What’s new?

August 27, 2018 Kim Bottu 1

Like most of us, I too have been counting down to VMworld and the big announcements it brings each year and because I have taken a keen interest into vSAN, I have been mostly wondering which announcements would be made about vSAN.  So let’s skip to what is most important to me: What is new with vSAN? By now you might have heard rumors about a new version of vSAN, and it is true ladies and gentlemen,  vSAN 6.7 Update 1 is almost upon us. A little voice told me it should be released in the 3th quarter of the year. Hybrid cloud integration. VMware realizes the importance for companies to be able to go to the cloud, to be […]
