Current VCP holders: Skip official course, go immediately to any VCP exam!

March 14, 2016 Kim Bottu 0

I always assumed that I would have to take the official VMware NSX: Install, Configure, Manage [V6.x] course or be a current holder of at least 1 valid CISCO CCNA certificate. Today a buddy told me I actually don’t need either prerequisites as I meet another prerequisite:  I am a current VCP holder!. Say that again: Current VCP holders qualify for the VCP-NV exam and all the other VCP exams as well! I am a current VCP-DCV and VCP6-DCV holder, I just booked my exam, so here is the proof:

Things to do straight away: – make sure you run and install all Windows updates you need. – add the server to the domain. – login as a domain user with elevated rights (I am using a domain admin). – Make sure Windows Firewall is enabled ( so ports can be opened automatically). This is a test so I don;t really care too much with the final Windows Firewall configuration for now. App Volumes 2.9: Cannot provision Application – Status: In Use

January 14, 2016 Kim Bottu 0

You have prepared a Client from a template to provision a new application, but when you try to deploy a new application in the client you notice that the App Volumes Manager shows Status in Use for the new VM. This cannot be right, but the same happens again when you create a new Client VM from scratch. So what is wrong here? Well the answer is a simple one,  the user u are using to create App Volumes with, has an AppStack assigned to him. Remove the AppStack assignments for this user or use a different user.
