Passed the AWS Cloud Practitioner test

This morning I sat for and passed AWS Cloud Practitioner test. It was on a whim that I booked it yesterday realizing this was (very) low hanging fruit I could easily pocket. From the AWS certification website: What the exam is about It is really a very basic exam that will test you on things like: What service will do something your business wants What are the benefits of running something in AWS v/s on-premises What type of service will do something better for your business Mostly straightforward questions, I had 65 of them to do in 90 minutes. I got through them all in 40 minutes, didn’t review anything although I did flag 3 questions. Some tips Some questions […]

Virtual Stack – Intro into VSAN and SDS

November 23, 2018 Stijn Depril 1

Spoiler Alert – If you were hoping to find a tech blog I would stop hoping now. Do read the total article I’m sure you will like it 😉. On average I spent between  1h30min to 6 hours per day in my car. In this daily commute I have plenty of time to work in my mobile office. The 2 most important things I do in my car is calling and listening to podcast. For me listening to podcasts is the perfect way to stay up to date and learn something new and learn to see things differently. It’s both informative but also really entertaining from time to time. Welcome to the Virtual Stack! Recently one of my colleagues in […]

VMworld Barcelona 2018 #Hackathon H4CK 4 C3N73R #RussianRoulette @kmruddy @vmwarecode @VirtualG_UK @Dark_KnightUK

So I had the pleasure of attending the hackathon at VMworld and meeting @kmruddy and the mighty beard! So I was asked to join up with Graham Barker @VirtualG_UK and David Taylor (WHO DOES NOT HAVE A TWITTER ACCOUNT) David how can you be a guy that travels around the world for Dell EMC on projects and not even have a Twitter account, you should be ashamed of yourself! They had an idea, that to me was super interesting. They were using VMware Workstation 15 with the new REST API bits, along with PowerCLI to create a quiz. After discussing the idea with them, I came up with the idea of it being called Russian Roulette. In VMware Workstation there was a […]

It’s a wrap – VMworld 2018

November 9, 2018 Stijn Depril 0

The last 4 days were crazy. We had our yearly VMworld in Barcelona! I had a jam packed agenda starting monday morning at 10 am till today. We could summarize it to long days and short nights! This was my second VMworld since I started working at VMware and it was great! I would even say “the best VMworld I ever attended”. On Monday I got to Barcelona around 9am in the morning. Leaving Brussels Airport early for my first meeting at 10 am in beautiful Barcelona. I planned around 15 meetings in these 4 days and we talked about divers subjects. In my current role it was most of the time storage centric. However a lot of our conversations […]

Day 2 VMworld – The vCommunity perspective

November 7, 2018 Kim Bottu 0

It’s been a wonderful but at the same time very long and tiring day for me today. The sessions attended have been awesome, the people around me have been ‘super’ but unfortunately, last Monday night, I had the excellent -ahum- idea, to only drink soda drinks. Needless to say, I didn’t sleep that well on the night from Monday going on Tuesday. Oh well.. I have learned from that mistake 🙂  . The vCommunity post Today, for the most time, I have been thinking and pondering about writing an article about the general session. Also about how the technical sessions I have attended today, fit in the vision gospelled in the general session. But let’s discard that idea. There are […]

VMworld 2018 – Day One

November 6, 2018 Kim Bottu 0

Finally, VMworld we meet once more! The sixth or seventh time already and still I am enjoying it as much as the first time, if not more! VMworld is a special event, not just for the technical content which is being gospelled in all sessions but also because it is wonderful to meet and greet my distant friends from around the globe in person, some of whom I have never met outside of the virtual world until today –> Hello Valdecir and Bilal, really nice to finally meetup in person! Something else what really makes VMworld special this year, is that there are four vMusketeers attending VMworld: Frederiek, Bilal, Stijn and myself! That means that almost half of our little […]
