What is new for vRealize Cloud Management at VMworld 2020


There is a bunch of new stuff to be announced by the CMBU at VMworld 2020. Here are some highlights:

vRealize Cloud Universal:

A flexible hybrid SaaS Suite offering which delivers a comprehensive Multi-cloud Management on a subscription basis. The following products will be offered as a bundled version: vRealize Operations, vRealize Automation, vRealize Log Insight 8.2, vRealize AI and VMware Skyline. Take note that some of the products can be run in a hybrid fashion, making moving to the cloud easier.

The subscription based licensing will come in three different flavors: Standard, Advanced and Enterprise. But, should you opt for the VMware vCloud Suite subscription, you will get VMware vRealize Cloud AND vSphere Enterprise Plus!

The different SaaS Capabilities of vRealize Cloud Universal

VMware vRealize Cloud Federated Catalog

  • vRealize Cloud Federated Catalog: vRealize Cloud Universal in a SaaS model enables IT organizations to deliver a unified IT catalog to users globally.
  • vRealize Cloud Federated Analytics: vRealize AI can unify the analysis of hybrid and multi-cloud environments both through vRA and vROps.
  • VMware Skyline Proactive Support integrated with vROps will give you a better overview of the health of your environment in the new Advisor dashboard.
  • VMware vRealize AI Cloud Vision will intelligently learn about your environment and make continuous updates based on results in your environment.

VMware vRealize AI Cloud

The butterfly effect looms around every corner of your dynamic data center. Applications come and go, stretch from on premises into different clouds and migrate away again. Constant change never has been easy to manage nor operate.

To make things easier, we can now leverage VMware vRealize AI Cloud. vRealize AI Cloud will store performance and other types of data in the cloud and continuously analyze and compare this data. Based on the analysis, it will propose to make optimized changes in your environment.

So what are some of the advantages you get out of this for your business?

VMware vRealize Operations 8.2

Let’s have a look at the major release themes

  • Near real-time monitoring is finally here! You can choose to enable monitoring with 20 second increments if you wish to.
  • As of vRealize Operations 8.2 you will be able to leverage application insights coming from already existing tools in your environment. For example, we now allow integration of popular APM tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic and AppDynamics.
  • vRealize Operations 8.2 can also discover and synchronize applications created in vRealize Network Insight. This will make it easy to see the context between infrastructure and network troubleshooting.
  • This new release of vROps also brings pricing support for non-vRA workloads. You will be able to assign a default pricing card but also will be able to override it at the vCenter or cluster level.
  • Also expect to see a better integration with AWS. That is right, AWS monitoring will be available out of the box. you will be able to leverage 23 built-in dashboards and 34 specifically created alerts to help you with your AWS operations.

vRealize Automation 8.2

  • Terraform configurations can now be used as a VMware Cloud Template resource!
