Passing the VCP-NV 2019 NSX-T 2.4 2V0-41.19 exam #NSX #vExpertNSX #vExpert

So as many of you will know, I am pretty savvy when it comes to DCV but when it comes to networking in general and especially networking virtualization…I am a rookie. I missed the NSX-V train, it passed me by while I was working on other things and with NSX-T being quite new…I thought now is as good of a time as any to get on board! Networking has always been a weak point of mine, and my goal is to change that. I don’t intend to become the next CCIE or anything like that, but I want to become a more rounded consultant and just have a good solid level of understanding in different areas. I booked myself on […]

NSX-T v2.4 Manager Failures #RunNSX #VMware #Networking #SDDC @UltTransformer

Introduction So, I have started getting into the world of NSX-T, I pretty much missed the NSX-V train and while it is still early days in the T world, I wanted to get on board. This led me to attending the NSX-T v2.4 ICM and I have to say it has been one of the best courses I have ever attended. Our instructor seriously knew his stuff and the room was full of highly skilled networking and virtualisation guys. I asked lots and lots of questions and we had some very good discussions regarding topologies and packet flows etc. At the end of the 5th day, me and a couple of guys had some time to burn, and we started […]

Disclaimer I own the two previous versions of this book and have used them extensively and I was given a free copy of this book to review. I also know one of the authors @VirtuallyMikeB well and he assisted me on my VCDX journey too. So this book is split up into multiple chapters, and I am going to break them down a bit more. I hope this will give you a better idea of what this book is all about and if it is something you would consider buying. Chapter 1: The Virtual Data Center So this chapter focuses on some of the basics, which you will probably already know if you are reading this book. Things like the […]

#VMUG Presentations @scottishvmug @nwenglandvmug @VirtualG_UK @vBeeGee

For a long while I have been pondering doing some kind of presentation at some VMUGs. They VMUG leaders have cornered me a few times to actually present, so finally I decided to do it and to pick some topics that I thought might be interesting. Since I have decided this year is going to me focusing on my presentation/soft skills, I thought presenting at VMUGs would be a good way to build up on that skill set and to help me along in my toastmasters journey. If it wasn’t for the community and the people I have met as a result, I wouldn’t be where I am at the moment, as with many things in life it is a […]

Moving from vSphere 5.5 to vSphere 6.5 Part 2 #Upgrade #Migration #Fresh #vExpert #vSphere #VCSA

So now we have got all the back story out of the way with Part 1, we can get into the meat of it all. The Middle I used various scripts, from various places and used the web client to get everything how I needed it to be. These scripts are provided AS IS, use them at your own risk, they worked for me. I have credited everyone I borrowed the source scripts from, and even provided the location of the source scripts too. A lot of people put effort into making the scripts, so I thought it would only be fair people knew where they came from. I made edits and adjusted as I needed to get the job […]

Virtual Stack – Intro into VSAN and SDS

November 23, 2018 Stijn Depril 1

Spoiler Alert – If you were hoping to find a tech blog I would stop hoping now. Do read the total article I’m sure you will like it 😉. On average I spent between  1h30min to 6 hours per day in my car. In this daily commute I have plenty of time to work in my mobile office. The 2 most important things I do in my car is calling and listening to podcast. For me listening to podcasts is the perfect way to stay up to date and learn something new and learn to see things differently. It’s both informative but also really entertaining from time to time. Welcome to the Virtual Stack! Recently one of my colleagues in […]

It’s a wrap – VMworld 2018

November 9, 2018 Stijn Depril 0

The last 4 days were crazy. We had our yearly VMworld in Barcelona! I had a jam packed agenda starting monday morning at 10 am till today. We could summarize it to long days and short nights! This was my second VMworld since I started working at VMware and it was great! I would even say “the best VMworld I ever attended”. On Monday I got to Barcelona around 9am in the morning. Leaving Brussels Airport early for my first meeting at 10 am in beautiful Barcelona. I planned around 15 meetings in these 4 days and we talked about divers subjects. In my current role it was most of the time storage centric. However a lot of our conversations […]

VSAN at VMworld – What you can’t miss!

October 26, 2018 Stijn Depril 0

Only a couple of days before the doors at Gran Fira open for a new edition of VMworld in Barcelona! Before packing your bags, I hope you all had a view at the session builder and scheduled the sessions you believe will be most beneficial for you! I would like to make a suggestion to fill these tiny free spaces in your diary. As you know, I’m working on building the VSAN business in the Benelux region. So it probably won’t surprise you that my suggestion is fully packed with storage sessions! Oh and by the way while you are at it. Come and have a talk with my fellow vMusketeers during VMworld! I might have some cool swag for […]
